Fred Piercy

Fred Piercy is the recipient of the 2007 Alumni Award for Excellence in Graduate Academic Advising. His work focuses on marriage and family therapy education, as well as couples enrichment.

Piercy also conducts research to evaluate the methods of marriage, family, and substance abuse therapy, including the ethical and professional issues behind these methods. He has also contributed to research in how to approach marriage and family therapy in non-western countries and research on the topic of internet addiction in relationships.

Piercy joined Virginia Tech in 2000. He has earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Wake Forest University, a master of education in counseling at the University of South Carolina, and a doctorate in counseling education at the University of Florida.
