Immunization History Forms are due July 31st. Non-compliance will not prevent the student registering for or attending classes for Fall 08. Non-compliance will prevent the student from getting first choice of classes for Spring 09 because a block is placed on their registration when pre-registration for Spring is scheduled. The block will not be lifted until the student is in compliance with the Code of Virginia immunization requirements.   Immunization requirements are dictated by the Commonwealth, not Virginia Tech. Immunization Clinics for summer orientation will be held Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in McComas Hall. The contracted company, Intravene, will take walk-ins, but appointments are preferred. Parents don’t have to call if they are requesting immunizations same day; student would be considered a walk-in. During Orientation, new students and families are not eligible for care at Schiffert Health Center. SHC will provide transitory care for urgent problems and students will be referred to a community clinic or practitioner.

Student Medical Insurance is available through the Risk Management Department. Their office is located in Student Services Building and phone is (540) 231-6226. Medical insurance is not required for domestic students, but is highly recommended.

Summer hours for Schiffert Health Center are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with no Saturday hours. Cook Counseling Center hours are 8 -12 and 12:30 to 4:30. Staff will be available to talk with parents at the Cook Counseling Center during orientation since they will not have a counselor representative at the Parent/Hokie Resource Fair.
